forest queen collection

In our ceramics we often consciously abstract the figure to create unique personalities to better present different aspects of the human condition. here I used colored underglazes, washes, and coarse clay to create a gritty surface that accentuates the form I was imagining.

We envisioned the pieces belonging to an imaginary being who looks after the beauty and health of forests, gardens, and the wild places of the world. This collection is much more gritty and realistic of a divine entity of the woods. Think Tree Ents from LOTR.
